Kitchens are second only to bathrooms in their inaccessibility to many elderly and disabled people. High cabinets, flush cabinets and confined spaces, make many kitchens virtually off-limits to wheelchair-bound individuals. Existing base cabinets can be modified to allow access to sinks. Upper cabinets can be relocated or replaced with powered devices that lower the cabinet to within reach. Powered counters can raise and lower the countertop to make it accessible for wheelchair users and raise the counter for able-bodied users.
